MedTrainer alternatives for home health and hospice agencies What each vendor publishes, priced for a 30-employee agency.

MedTrainer puts a large course library, compliance tools and provider credentialing on one platform. If what your agency needs most is every caregiver's file current and ready for a survey, here is how MedTrainer and five alternatives describe themselves on their own sites, what each publishes about price, and where each one is ahead. Corvara HR wrote this page and is one of the five.

Reviewed October 15, 2026. Re-checked against each vendor's pages every quarter. Prices only as each vendor publishes them.

How we compared

Each vendor's own pages, read on one day, cited line by line.

On October 15, 2026 we read each vendor's own website: its home page, pricing page, feature pages, security page and, where published, its terms. Every statement on this page about another vendor links to the page it came from. Where a vendor does not publish something, we say so rather than fill the gap from review sites or third-party price estimates. Where a vendor's own pages disagree with each other, we cite one page and leave the conflicting figure out.

We did not sign up for trials, request quotes or use review-site scores. A vendor that prices on request is listed as quote only.

We left out Perla, which sometimes appears on these lists: its own site (goperla.com) says it is built for long-term care, skilled nursing and senior living, and it names neither home health nor hospice.

Corvara HR wrote this page, and Corvara is one of the products compared, so we list where the others are ahead and re-check every vendor's pages each quarter. If anything here is out of date, email admin@corvarahr.com and we will correct it.

What MedTrainer does well, and why agencies still look around.

What it does well, from its own pages

Why a home health or hospice agency looks elsewhere

  • No published price. Its three tiers, Select, Premier and Signature, are quoted on licensed user count, modules and content. (medtrainer.com/pricing)
  • Its credentialing product is organized around providers: provider data with a CAQH integration, payer enrollment and privileging. (medtrainer.com/products/credentialing)
  • Hospice does not appear among the 15 industries it lists. (medtrainer.com/who-we-serve/industries)
  • The six customers quoted on its home health page include two community health centers, a tribal health division and Women's Health Connecticut; none is identified as a home health agency or a hospice. (medtrainer.com/who-we-serve/industries/home-health)
  • Its published standard terms set a 60-month initial term when the order form lists none, renewing automatically unless cancelled at least 30 days before the end, with annual support and maintenance fees rising 8% on each anniversary. (medtrainer.com/terms)

Know what you are replacing

Four kinds of software all called compliance software.

  • Learning and compliance platforms

Course libraries, policy management, incident reporting and exclusion monitoring, sometimes with provider credentialing attached. MedTrainer is built this way. The question they answer best is whether staff completed their training; a personnel file is a different question.

  • Agency operating systems

Scheduling, electronic visit verification and billing, with caregiver credentials on the same record. BridgeCare OS and CareBravo are built this way. Best when you want one system to run the agency; the personnel file is one part among many.

  • General HR suites

Recruiting, onboarding, the HR record, time off and payroll integrations for any frontline workforce. HR Cloud is built this way. Credential tracking is a module of the suite.

  • Credential and personnel file trackers

Each employee's requirements, dates, documents and expirations, and what a surveyor is handed. Corvara and CareReady are built this way. They do not run your schedule, your billing or your courses.

The comparison

Six products, as each one describes itself.

The table is the short version. Open a vendor below it for every field, each with the page it came from.

First-month math

What a 30-employee agency pays in month one, where the price is published.

Thirty employees, at the plan that fits that headcount. Month one includes any one-time fee the vendor publishes; a vendor that prices on request shows no figure rather than an estimate. These products do different jobs, so read the comparison above before comparing totals.

Month-one cost for 30 employees, from each vendor's published prices.

Fair is fair

Where the others are ahead of Corvara.

Corvara HR

What Corvara is built around.

  • The binder is the product

Each employee file is built the way a surveyor reads it: tabs for hiring, identity, licensure, screening, health, training, payroll and policies, each row a requirement with its documents, dates and verification record.

  • Primary source verification with the proof

Where verification is required, the item stays open until method, source, result, date and proof are recorded. No upload, no sign-off.

  • Monthly reports frozen when they are made

A number computed the morning the surveyor arrives is a claim. A year of monthly snapshots, each frozen the day it was made, is evidence.

  • Hiring to file in one flow

The public application becomes a candidate file, then an employee file with every remaining requirement scheduled from the hire and start dates.

  • The whole price on the page

The per-employee rate, the monthly minimum, the implementation fee and hosting are all published, so the first invoice holds no surprises.

Switching

Before you switch, whichever vendor you choose.

  1. Export training transcripts and certificates before the contract ends. Completion history often lives only in the system that delivered the course.
  2. Export every credential file with its documents and verification records, and keep a dated copy outside both systems.
  3. Find the contract's end date, notice period and any automatic renewal clause, and put the notice date on a calendar.
  4. Keep files survey-ready through the cutover: run both systems until every active employee's file is complete in the new one.
  5. Decide who runs the monthly LEIE and SAM search after the switch, and keep the screening log continuous across it.
  6. Plan to re-collect signatures on policies and job descriptions if the signed copies and their audit trail do not move with the files.
  7. Ask the new vendor which agreements it signs, such as a business associate agreement if any patient information will be stored, and get them signed before data moves.

Frequently asked

Questions agencies ask when they compare.

Does MedTrainer publish its pricing?

No. Its pricing page names three tiers, Select, Premier and Signature, without dollar figures. It prices on licensed user count, modules and industry content, and says quotes take 24 to 48 hours.

Is Corvara a MedTrainer replacement?

For the personnel file and employee credential tracking, yes. For training courses, automated exclusion monitoring and provider payer enrollment, no: Corvara delivers no courses, records exclusion checks rather than running them, and does not enroll clinicians with payers. An agency that relies on MedTrainer's course library would keep a training product alongside Corvara.

Does Corvara deliver training courses?

No. Corvara attaches your training material to the requirement, as an upload or https link, and records the certificate, hours and completion date. Of the vendors on this page, MedTrainer and CareBravo publish course libraries.

Does Corvara run OIG exclusion checks for me?

No. You run the search; Corvara records the method, database, result, date and saved printout, and schedules the next check on the recurrence you set. Of the vendors on this page, MedTrainer publishes automated exclusion checks.

Which of these vendors publish their prices?

Corvara, BridgeCare OS and CareReady publish dollar prices, and HR Cloud publishes them for its small-business packages. MedTrainer quotes on request, and CareBravo charges a percentage of revenue.

What does Corvara cost for 30 employees?

$765 a month on Essentials: 30 employees at $25 is $750, above the $250 minimum, plus $15 for hosting. The one-time $500 implementation is billed in month one. Month to month, cancel with 30 days' notice.

What should a home health agency ask before switching compliance software?

Whether it tracks requirements per person with a due date and the document attached; whether verification is recorded with the proof; whether reports are frozen when they are generated or recomputed when you open them; what the contract term, renewal and notice dates are; and how you get every file and signature out if you leave.
